News: After a long selection process, the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles purchasing office has included Punto Netto in the list of companies accredited to carry out Control Shipping Level 2 activities.
Punto Netto, since last June, has been accredited by FCA as a third-party certification authority to carry out inspection processes at the headquarters of the group's suppliers, finalized to control and prevent shipments of non-conforming materials, products and components. The achievement of CSL2 certification recognizes the investments in terms of training and expertise made in the latest years by the engineer Gaetano Griso, CEO of Punto Netto.
Basically, the shipment of any component of the production chain in the Automotive sector can only take place after passing a Control Shipping Level managed by our highly qualified and trained team, as proof of the constant attention paid by major automotive manufacturers - and in this particular case by FCA - to protect their customers. Thanks to the second level controls carried out by Punto Netto, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will be able to mass produce conforming and therefore safe cars to be placed on the international automotive market.
What is the Control Shipping Level 2?
Control Shipping Level 2 is an inspection process, carried out by a third-party company at the headquarters of suppliers of components for the automotive sector and is intended to control and prevent the shipment of non-conforming materials and products. The shipment of the product can only take place when the CSL2 is exceeded. In this way, we can guarantee the impartiality and prevention of possible conflicts of interest between Tier 1 and its suppliers.
More specifically, CSL2 verifies the conformity of the products on the basis of specific and predefined control cycles, carried out on 100% of the supply within a predefined period, aimed at verifying the quality of the outgoing product and preventing it from reaching the assembly line with anomalies already detected, whether serious or repeated.
How does a control shipping level 2 work?
In this specific case, the Punto Netto team, in agreement with FCA and the supplier who will be involved in the control from time to time, during the kick-off meeting, the start-up meeting of each activity, has to evaluate all technical and organizational aspects in order to carry out quality controls with the aim of intercepting, and then rejecting, any non-conformities present in the entire production chain.
For this reason, Punto Netto will be called whenever a supply, which due to the delicacy of the component or the repetition of the defect, could generate a slowdown in production. In this case our team will have to carry out the most accurate control of the materials before shipping them to the plant.
